June Playlist – Don’t Panic. Live for Today!

We’ve all been there. You’re listening to a new song, bobbing your head along to the music, and the person sitting next to you says, “You think the album’s good? You should see them live!”

I’ve found that concerts can only go one of two ways.

  1. You buy tickets (probably expensive ones) to see a band you have loved for a long time. You count down the days to the concert, you show up early, you listen faithfully to the opening acts you’ve never heard of, and then – finally – the band you’ve waited for comes out and starts to play. Only, they suck. The music is plug-your-ears bad. They sound nothing like the music on your iPod, and you’re totally bummed.
  2. OR! You buy the tickets, you wait and wait, you listen to the opening acts, and HOLY SH*T THIS IS THE BEST THING YOU’VE EVER SEEN THIS BAND IS SO AWESOME YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE HAVING AN OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE TODAY IS THE DAY YOU LEARN TO LIVE.

This playlist is dedicated to all of us who have experienced the second scenario. It’s dedicated to those moments when you’re standing in the front row with your neck crammed back as far as it can go – so close to your favorite artists you could touch them – dancing and singing along with the best version of your favorite song you have ever heard.

We present our June playlist: Don’t panic. Live for Today. It’s a collection of some of our favorite live recordings of songs. Turn down the lights, turn up the volume, wave your lighter/cellphone in the air, and enjoy.

This is just a sample of some of our favorite live bands (and only includes ones we could find recordings for). What is the best live concert you’ve ever been to?
