July Playlist – Freedom!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, y’all. Time to celebrate our independence! Whatever your plans for the holiday weekend are, this playlist will leave you with visions of bald eagles soaring in your head. It’s our selection of our favorite jams about the good ol’ red, white, and blue (or about freedom in general). I leave you with the top ten reasons, in no particular order, that ~*~*~The Fourth of July~*~*~ is the best day of the year.

1. Backyard BBQs – Need I say more? Everybody likes meat and veggies fresh from the grill.
2. My mom’s homemade chip dip – Unless you live on the eastside of Indianapolis, you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing this Euliss classic, but I need you to trust me on this one. It’s the most delicious dip of all the dips in America. If you can’t get on board, feel free to replace “my mom’s chip dip” with some fabulous Fourth of July ritual your family shares.
3. Fireworks – I find fireworks allow me to feel tough and super romantic at the same time. Explosions? RAD. Twinkling lights in the sky? Somebody give me a smooch!

4. Adult beverages – Sign me up for three tooth crackin’ cold beers please.
5. Baseball – It is America’s favorite pastime after all.
6. Parades and Block Parties – Some people might argue that parades are the worst, but some people are wrong. There’s nothing better than a community coming together to celebrate.
7. Independence Day – A classic piece of Will Smith cinema, Independence Day reruns on TBS are the July version of A Christmas Story.

8. Water sports – Whether you spend the day on a multi-million dollar yacht or running through a sprinkler like a little kid, the Fourth is a great day to put on a swim suit to cool off.
9. Songs About America – Nobody tears up like an American listening to a particularly well-sung version of the classics: God Bless America, The Star Spangled Banner, God Bless the USA… I’m getting weepy just thinking about it.
10. Freedom – Independence Day gives us a chance to celebrate who we are and where we come from. And there’s nothing greater than that.
